Controlled burn darkens sky Mon 30 Mar 2015

2015-03-31 - Bliss, Adair County, KY .

A number of people were concerned yesterday, Monday, March 30, 2015, when a smoky cloud darkened the sky over a a large number of acres and a few complained of the smoke they, wildlife, and farm animals inhaled during the process. It apparently wasn't a fire out of control, just a controlled burn of a CREP field, but it sent deer and other wild animals scurrying, and made it difficult to breathe in as far away as the Louie B. Nunn Parkway and near Columbia Super Walmart. The photographer didn't give her/his vantage point, but the Raider Bob water tower appears, through the haze, to be on the right, horizon. It's a bit of a reminder to those doing controlled burns that neighbors should matter. - CM
