Chief Cross address phone forwarding issue

2015-02-03 - City Hall Council meeting room, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
After Councilman Ron Rogers asked that something be done about complaints he has been receiving from citizens who could not get an answer when calling directly to the Columbia Police Department Chief Jason Cross rose to explain that the problems existed because the department does not have a secretary and because the Police Department is on a different phone system from City Hall. The photo was taken at the Monday, 2 Feb 2015 meeting of Council. Mayor Hardwick and City Clerk Rhonda Loy are looking into the problem and felt that a solution could be worked out shortly. City Hall's number is 270-384-2501. Calls are answered by real people, and transfers to individuals and to other departments are handled in a personal manner. The Police Department's administrative number is 270-384-4119; emergency calls for the police department are handled by Adair County 9-1-1 Center.
