Election 4 Nov 2014 - Examining write in votes

2014-11-06 - Adair Annex, Suite 1, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo (c) ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Elections officials sat in front of a computer screen examining write in votes for PVA and Mayor of Columbia on election night. Seated, from left, are Board of Elections Member Billy Curry, Adair County Court Clerk Joyce Rodgers, and Vicki Hodge at computer. Back row Ben Loy, Board of election member; Adair County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin; and Nadalie Insco. In a county-wide race, Brandon Thompson received 1,994 votes, 36.44% of the votes, and Ben Arnold received 383 votes in the tally, 30.09% of the vote in his candidacy for Mayor of Columbia, giving him second place in the three way race. Glitches in handling write-in vote may have significantly affected vote totals for write-ins, especially in the city, where problems with boundary lines and other procedural and supply concerns are now being reviewed to make sure that they do not happen again.
