Fall's officially one day away: But there's fall produce aplenty

2014-09-21 - 6019 Russell Springs Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Dana King. Fall is officially here tomorrow, 22 Sep 2014. But on Russell Springs Road, across from the Christine Road cutoff, Dana King has a roadside stand at her parents', Don and Lois White's, home at 6019 Russell Springs Road, Columbia, KY, which argues, along with school in full flight and football the talk of the region, fall is here today. This is the fifth season the family has grown pumpkins for sale, and each year the line of edible and decorative pumpkins for sale grows. This year, Dana King says, already, "We have pumpkins, mums, straw, Indian corn, Cushaws, corn shocks, gourds, and pie pumpkins." The roadside market is open most of the time, Dana King says, and will continue through Halloween, October 31, 2014, she said. If you want to make sure on market open times, call ahead, 270-634-2608. - Ed Waggener
