Chairman Ben Loy welcomes Alison Lundergan Grimes

2014-09-07 - Jim Blair Center, 801 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY - Photo CM Staff photo. Adair County Democratic Party Chairman Ben Loy introduced Secretary of State and Democratic Party U.S. Senate nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes to an audience of 100 in attendance at an impromptu campaign rally squeezed in between long scheduled stops in Russell County and Hart County. Grimes sounded populist themes of better pay for lower and middle income groups, advances in equality for women, and, for Lindsey Wilson College town Columbia, KY, a fairer deal for college loans. Organizers thought the big crowd would have been even bigger had it not been for the multitude of major fall events and big Lindsey Wilson Sports events which diverted that Grimes base constituency from the event. Grimes campaign style, getting the audience to rock with negative refrains portraying her opponent Mitch McConnell as a "No," negative, backward looking individual, and herself as the "Yes" candidate of tomorrow, resonated with group assembled at Jim Blair Center, Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014. - CM
