Dr. Ron Rogers: Dogs Don't Bark at Parked Cars

2014-09-04 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Listening to citizen comments - Councillors Dr. Ron Rogers, Charles Grimsley, and Councillor and Mayoral Candidate June Parsons listened to citizen comments on the proposed new Columbia City Payroll Tax. Dr. Rogers, who heartily endorsed the proposed tax, quoted a popular saying, "Dogs don't bark at parked cars," perhaps the most memorable comment on the issue, saying that change is needed, and that the payroll tax is right, whether everyone likes it or not. The public will have two more chances to voice opinions, at a Special Called Meeting, at 6amCT, Monday, September 8, 2014, at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. (We'll keep you posted on the format, time limits, and other public meeting issues as received from Mayor Harris.) The public will also have a chance to comment on the proposed new tax at the Council's regular session, October 6, 2014, in the same location, same time, when the second and final reading before enactment, is scheduled to take place.
