Slight Nuance - Square Serifs -makes big difference

At first glance, a traveler doesn't necessary notice why Green County's Road signs have more colonial look, befitting its history. It's subtle: Square Serifs on the fatter letters. Many, if not most, county road signs are posted in highly legible but somewhat generic sand serif or "plain" letters. And, according to some typographers, letters with serifs cause eye flutter - which is actually restful, as this area of Green County, Kentucky certainly is - and it also proves Tim Baker's idea that the grass is greener on a gray day. - CM
