Mine are working hands Barbara Armitage says, sometimes stained the color of the crops she's picking - strawberries, blueberries, and, the worst, she says, blackberries, above. "What I have come to realize over the past few years is that I have my Gramma Till's hands. Tillie Mae was my great grandmother. Like her there are freckles on my hands from too much sun over the years. My nails are kept short and are - at least once a day - clean and unpolished. I can see the beginnings of the arthritis that plagued her taking hold in my fingers. And like my Gramma Till's hands mine are working hands," she writes in the accompanying story.
