So long as opossums behave, follow the rules, and follow acceptable natural ways, exile from the garden area is the maximum sentence. Only when they break the rules - as the bad bear did in William Faulkner's The Bear - are guilty of terroristic threatening, as one did, do they face capital punishment. This one is one of the many lucky ones.
