Budget adopted by City of Columbia for Fiscal Year 2014-15

2014-06-25 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo City of Columbia chart.
The City Council of Columbia, KY
adopted the budget above for Fiscal Year July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 at a special called meeting Tuesday, June 24, 2014. The budget is termed a balanced one, but the General Fund is balanced by a reduction in the fund balance carried forward, as is, to a lesser extent, the City Gas Department. The vote was 5-1 for the budget. Councillor Charles Grimsley voted no, as a protest against a meager $14,626 outlay for Parks & Recreation. The largest component of the General Fund budget is for police, $1,052,958; followed by $430,026 for general government; streets get $269,357; then $110,565 for fire; and $14,626 for Parks and Recreation. The budget shows increases in fund balances for Sanitation and slightly over $100,000 drop in fund balances for the Gas Department.
