The stories this old bird house could tell perched on one of our south pasture fence posts.

Stories of those who sawed the wood from a local log... the bird fancier or Pop Pop of a grand daughter who designed and built it. The countless generations of bluebirds, and starling interlopers who used it to raise their babies.

Old weathered things in the country have a charm and beauty that's usually absent in the city and suburbs.

Old farmsteads, tobacco barns, antique tractors and such--they speak to me, as does this humble yet intricate homestead on a post.

I love the country.... there is peace and beauty here.
