History: Judy Corbin sends newspaper clippings

2014-06-14 - Columbia, KY - Photo from Judy Corbin. Ed, I found this old newspaper in my grandmotherís personal belongings and thought this interesting. I scanned a couple items of interest: The first is that the Adair County News cost $1.00 per year and the next is the personals. I wondered if the Ralph Waggener listed here as being sick was any of your relatives. Interesting to see what was posted back in the day. The last article was the obit of my great grandmother. Interesting. I knew the story of her death as a young girl. - Judy Corbin, 843 Pikeview Road, Greensburg, KY 42743.

Thanks The Ralph Waggener listed above was my grandfather. Mr. Tom Waggener, listed in another item, was the grandfather of Adair CJE Ann Melton. There are other interesting personalities listed whick we hope will spur reader comments. In the middle column, it's noteworthy that the candidate for State Superintendent, Barksdale Hamlett, was an Adair Countian. How sad the story of Mrs. Flatt's death. So many names in the story are people children of the '40's knew and remember so fondly. - EW
