2014-06-05 - Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo CM photo by Pen Waggener; Graphics used this CM photo by Pen Waggener with the listing of Columbia as the 10th safest city in Kentucky. The citation reads, in part:"With a reputation as the Gem of Kentucky, Columbia exudes a college town atmosphere (Lindsey Wilson College) nestled in vibrant rural surroundings including the area's picturesque lakes. The city offers everything you could want in a small community, from friendly, tight-knit neighborhoods and a low crime rate (no murders or arsons reported in 2012) to family events such as Renaissance Columbia 'Downtown Days,' Mark Twain Marching Band Festival, the 4th of July Celebration, and the Adair County Fair.
