It's Crusade for Children Sunday in Adair Co., KY

2014-06-01 - Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Brandon Lewis,, left and Billy Hadley are at the Greensburg Street entrance to the Public Square in Columbia this morning, accepting donations for the 2014 Crusade for Children. This Sunday, the churches of Adair County are receiving gifts, as well. Lewis said that he expects this to be another year of increased donations, buoyed by candidate participation and by the fact that this year the Crusade honors the memory of an all-time favorite Adair Countian, Cody Pelly. The Columbia/Adair County Fire Department appreciates every gift, from coins to $1 bills, and all the checks. Quite often, they said, checks are written out for as much as $100, $500, even $1,000 and are dropped in the collection buckets on Sunday morning. They're hoping, on this beautiful June 1, 2014 day that a number of folks will be heroes and make this tribute to Cody a truly memorable one. The collection continues Downtown at least through noon today. - EW
