Academics, health & safety priorities on ACHS campus

2014-03-16 - ACES, 870 Indian DR, Columbia, Ky - Photo by Ed Waggener. Leaving a lasting impression: Often it's subtle cues which impact the impression visitors get. We had that experience at Corbin High School. It's famous for its academic accomplishments, but only one in our party knew of it. On three different occasions we announced to our party that we'd seen a banner that Corbin, academically is on the 94 percentile! Yesterday, visitors from and to Adair County for a wonderful day and venue for baseball, could leave seeing that the district also puts top priority on academics, and, on the sign below, that health is important. Had they glanced over to Adair County Elementary and seen the huge 870 letters on the building, they might know how important public safety is to the district; they probably wouldn't have realized how much money that is saving a cash strapped 911 behind the scenes. Training dispatchers to get to buildings without proper signage is expensive at best, highly risky at worse. - ED WAGGENER
