Daffodils in bloom, Riffe Creek Road, March 1, 2014 2014-03-02 - Riffe Creek Road - Photo by Linda Waggener. Happy Days are here again. Daffodils - March Lilies we call them in Sulphur Well - were in bloom on the side of Riffe Creek Road between between Ellistown and Dunnville. (It's a great loop you naturally take from Ellistown on KY 206 to just west of Rheber in Casey County and don't notice as the pavement guides you away from Riffe Creek Road toward US 127 north of Dunnville; this bank is where the road makes a sharp turn toward KY 206 again to return to that road most travellers toward Columbia always seem to pass in too big a hurry to take; but the unitiated always think, "I wonder what's down that road .... but never get around to find out.) Anyway, got so excited about this find that I forgot to check whether we were in Casey or Adair, but remembered that Larry Smith advises we've got to quit tripping over these imaginary boundaries anyway. These March Lilies were the first we'd seen this year - apologies for the quality of the photo - it was a drive by shooting. But there it is. We're hoping for more photo(s) today.
