Election 2014: Lisa Greer for Adair County Court Clerk

2014-02-19 - Columbia, KY - Photo Campaign Photo.

To the Citizens of Adair County:

I, Lisa Lee Greer, would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a Republican Candidate (No. 5 on the ballot) for the Office of County Clerk.

I began to consider the possibility of running for this public service position approximately one year ago, after learning that Sheila Blair, our current County Clerk, planned to retire after a long and honorable career in public service. I did not make this decision lightly, knowing that the office of County Clerk has multiple responsibilities. I engaged in lengthy discussions with my husband (Phillip), my family, and my friends about the responsibilities of this office. With many prayers and their support, I made the decision to run for the Office of County Clerk.

I grew up and continue to reside in Knifley, KY, where my sisters and I were raised by two loving parents, Gordon and Jewel (Neat) Brown. They taught us the importance of family morals, values, and what it means to stand by our commitments made to others. I have learned from them, to persevere and remain dedicated in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement. If elected to the Office of County Clerk, I pledge the same dedication to Adair County. Having been a part of Adair County's history and seeing how it has evolved, I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of the continued growth, witnessing all that it can become!

The County Clerk's Office is a State Constitutional Office with varied duties governed by the Kentucky Revised Statutes. The motor vehicle licensing is the most frequently visited area of the County Clerk's Office, but is only one of the many responsibilities of the clerk's office. A couple of the most important responsibilities of the County Clerk's Office are the recording of documents and indexing of all documents along with the overseeing of the entire electoral process, including Voter registration. Having an understanding of the importance of accommodation for customers while working at Jeffries Hardware, with experiences and knowledge of government operations that I have attained working in the Judge Executive's Office since 2000, I offer my candidacy for County Clerk of Adair County.

I pledge, if elected as your County Clerk to continue the outstanding job our current clerk has done, while improving upon the services offered to the citizens of Adair County by providing additional services such as but not limited to:
  • I will have the office open on Saturdays
  • Provide V.I.P. services to all customers using the clerk's office
  • Keep the same experienced office staff
  • Have an open door policy
  • Provide notary services
  • I will welcome any and all suggestions
  • Visit other County Clerk Offices to obtain ideas of how to improve the services offered to the citizens of Adair County
  • Provide Mock Elections at our schools and colleges
  • Utilize my experience of writing grants to seek additional funding to improve the current county clerk's website, that would allow residents the opportunity to download documents, printable forms, research deeds, mortgages, wills, court minutes, oil leases, etc., without coming into the office
  • Continue to be community minded by continued participation at fairs, festivals, and other community events providing a voter registration drive and information about the Clerk's Office.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I humbly ask for your vote on May 20th. I am striving to meet each and every one of you before the election. Feel free to call me at 270-469-0376 or 270-465-4971 with any questions or suggestions that you may have. I look forward to making new acquaintances and renewing old acquaintances.

Sincerely, Lisa Greer, Republican Candidate for County Clerk, #5 on Ballot
