Historic Marion County: Club 68 / Jerry Lee Lewis on marquee

2014-02-08 - Lebanon, KY - Photo from the collection of Larry Smith.
A Larry Smith old photo
If the sign now looks familar, you likely here from the 1950's or you've seen the same sign or an exact clone at Big John's beverage stores on Calvary Road just north of the Taylor County line. This sign was at Lebanon, KY Mayor Hyleme George's Self-Service Liquor Store and advertised the Jerry Lee Lewis show coming September 4, but we can tell the year except from the 1950s cars in he parking lot. Maybe a someone will know, maybe even remembering the occasion. Comments and stories inspired by the photo are welcome. Paired Photo See also Scenic Marion Co., KY: Club 68 lives on from the archives of South Central Kentucky Historian Larry Smith, who is also the voice of The Big Dawg 99.9 FM and the WAVE, FM 92.7 FM (NOTE from Bill Cox: Cars left to right: 1964 Mercury Comet, 1961 Chevy Impala, 1965 Buick, and a 1964 Cadillac,1956 Buick.I guess the year was September 4, 1965, a Saturday. - Bill Cox)
