Epicurean Kentuckian: Introducing The Falafel Waffle

2014-01-20 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. I think Falafel is delicious, but it seemed inconvenient to make at home, because it's traditionally deep-fried. At some breakfast in the recent past, the idea occurred to me that falafel might be delicious prepared in a waffle iron -- extra crispy, and easier to prep and clean up after. This first attempt was an encouraging disappointment. It didn't hold together particularly well, and it didn't brown evenly without extra olive oil. However, it was delicious on a Greek salad, and certainly proved the concept enough to plan further experimentation.
