Ugly, but not for long: Adair/Russell line water tank

2014-01-10 - Russell Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
As promised
the new Russell County line water tower was in the air by years end, but final welds on the structure will be completed in the next four-five days of 2014, Columbia/Adair County Utilities District (CAUD) General Manager Lenny Stone told the January meeting of the CAUD board last night. And, he assured the board, when warmer weather comes in a few weeks and the Caldwell Tank Company painters see 5-6 consecutive days of warm weather to paint the tower. "I assure you this is not the final color," Stone said. "It's a primer. Quite a few people have asked about it. Some said it is the ugliest color for any water tank they've ever seen, but it will be one of the most attractive when it's painted." The 300,000 tank is located near the Adair-Russell County line. It's seen above over the spire of Russell County's beautiful Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church, looking west, from Russell County. On the left are the entrances to 3Trees Church.
