Changing face of Russell Road: Little Building come full circle

The onetime Dairy Chick building, since a location for banks, will return to restaurant status once more, when a new Best Donuts breakfast house opens soon. Many oldtimers will remember when the late Warren Webb and the late J.D. Harper opened the Dairy Chick at this location, right beside Mr. Harper's Circle R restaurant. The Dairy Chick offered quick serve soft serve, hamburgers, fried chicken on its menu. (We'd love to post a photo). The new restaurant continues the restoration of Russell Road as major dining center. The Circle R, next door, is thriving today. Down the road are sites of the one time Hughes Motel Restaurant and banquet room. The street strip is also home to one of Betty Ollestad's original successes, a donut and breakfast shop. Best Donuts has a number of Kentucky locations, including one in Campbellsville, KY.
