Downtown Days: Just one thing missing

2013-10-13 - Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Where's the Farmers Market on the Square? We Hobbits enjoyed the Downtown Festival so much this year. For one thing, it had an awesomely enjoyable slow pace. For another, a priority for us, local, year round businesses seemed to be doing quite well, which should be the first concern. One thing we did miss was the Farmers Market on the Square. When it's not there on Saturday morning, it upsets our routine. As it turns out, the Festival didn't really pick up steam until around noon. With the 200 block of Greensburg blocked off anyway - and empty anyway, the big inflatable would have fit in nicely there, leaving plenty of room for those of us to walk Downtown every day to get visit the market, eat local, and put local agriculture first. Not a complaint - just looking ahead to next year. - EW
