ATS adding jobs with Toyota van conversion facility



2013-09-19 - Fairground & Campbellsvlle Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Big changes are underway at the intersection of Campbellsville Street and Fairground Street. Assisted Transportation Systems has acquired the huge Hancock Building, formerly used for wood products manufactuing, in the photo, left of the red roof, , and, in a separate transaction, the balance of the corner adjoining Columbia Tire & Recapping and and Warner Fertilizer. The Hancock Building will be used to convert Toyota vans to assisted mobility scooter transportation. After conversion, the vans have rear loading lifts. The new plant will be in addition to the company's Chrysler/Dodge and Ford Transport conversion plant in Green River Commerce Park.
