Remembering Jimmy Reliford: That friendly wave

2013-08-12 - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne, Adair Co, KY. There would hardly be a soul in Adair County, KY who isn't misty eyed about the loss of Jimmy Reliford, especially the way he made a day go better with a wave and a warm smile, for every body. Shamarie Claiborne said yesterday she couldn't get this memory out of her mind. He had a way, she said, of just making us feel better about ourselves every time we met him. This photo was posted 2013-05-18 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne during an Adair County Library "Quest," with this caption (to put the somewhat enigmatic caption in context see Historical Quest: The experience of the W.A.T.C.H group by Jelaine Harlow with some of Shamarie's best photos): "How that Hollywood has hit our little town You never know when the famous you'll see, wandering around. We all love his show. Just hope it hasn't been cancelled, and we're the last to know. Miss Bonnie can help, but can she find a new starring role? - SHAMARIE CLAIBORNE. Jimmy Reliford, Adair County, KY (1950-2013)
