Perfect tomatoes at Farmers Market on the Square

2013-08-03 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square - Photo By Ed Waggener. Darrell Bunnell of Coview Farms was offering these perfect sized, perfect tasting tomatoes this morning, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Farmers Market on the Square. They're a bargain compared to some of the brought on, cardboard tasting tomatoes in some stores. I bought just three of the former yesterday. Paid over $1 a piece and the difference in taste was astounding. These, with some of Darrell Bunnell's fresh cucumber made a salad with the very best taste of summer. Sam Avery, who is performing at with the Spiritual Warriors this morning, shared a salad this morning, at breakfast downtown, and agreed. Right next to the Perfect Red tomatoes are perfect green ones. A shopper from Virginia, ahead in the queue at the stall, was happy to get green tomatoes. Said she couldn't find them at Farmers Markets back in Virginia. There may still be some of these. Mr. Bunnell brought plenty. The market is open until 12pm noon CT, today.
