Countdown to School Start Adair County: 15 days

2013-07-30 - ACES, 870 Indian DR, Columbia, Ky - Photo CM staff photo. A little paint made a huge difference. When lighter blue numerals were affixed to Adair County Elementary School, they were hard to see from the road. Now, after a coat of paint, the address is easily seen from Indian Drive and the Adair Veterans Memorial Highway - the bypass. It's part of the Adair County Board of Education's program for student safety - even substitute emergency responders can more easily find the building. And costly behind the scenes training of dispatchers will be slightly reduced. Though that would be a direct cost to the school board, it is part of a growing trend in Adair County for governmental units to try to save each other unnecessary expense.
