2013-06-27 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Lisa Greer. A Kentucky Division of Forestry Check was presented to the Knifley Area Volunteer Fire department by Forester Kenny Pyles, on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Front row, from left Gayla Baker of the KAVFD, and Adair CJE Ann Melton holding the check, and Darrell Baker, Knifley Fireman. Back row, from left Magistrate Joe Rogers (District 6), Kenny Pyles, and Magistrate Harold Burton (1). The KAVFD is partially in District 1 and District 6. The total amount of the grants, including the Division of Forestry Wildland fire prevention project, for $5,000, and a $10,800 (net of $15,800 less $3,000 in kind matching money from the KAVFD), meant $15,800 in badly need cash to the Knifley fire department
