Remember When Map from Larry Smith

2013-06-14 - Photo by Larry Smith. Larry Smith, Operations Manager for Shoreline Communications sent this shot of one of his old maps which raise a lot of wonderment and questions. Do you remember when: The Cumberland River divided Adair County from Wayne? When the Eastern Border was with Pulaski and Casey, not Russell and Casey? When the Western Border was with Green and Barren, not Green and Metcalfe? When Greene County was spelled with a third "e"? When the county seat of Casey County was Caseyville? When it was "Russell's Creek," not Russell Creek? When Greene County joined Washington and Hardin Counties? When Danville was in Mercer County, which joined Lincoln County, and no Boyle Countian was harassing the Turtleman, accusing him of placing a non-native Kentucky cottonmouth in the Danville/Boyle County swimming pool? When there wasn't even a Boyle County? But when there was a Summersville, Greene County, Kentucky, the only town in the world which can claim the photographer and archivist who sent this photo. - CM
