Mobile Classroom starts with 1992 International School bus

2013-05-13 - 1204 Greensburg Steet, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. This 1992 International School Bus, with 192,500 miles will be converted into the Gifted and Talented Mobile Classroom, scheduled to go into service in the fall of 2013. In it's more active days, it served Adair County School District students in the Sano area. Michelle Foster was the driver of Bus No. 40, and before her, it was her father's route. Transportation Director David Jones said that the bus would have been sold for approximately $1,500 if put out for bids as surplus. The bus has already been through its first station in the retrofit, at Lake Cumberland Technical Center, where Barney Taylor's students took out all the bus seats, which would be replaced with soft furniture. The mobile classroom will never leave the campus, except for parades and special showings, and there already many demands for those. Its first public showing off the campus will be at the International Gifted and Talented Conference in Louisville, KY next school year.
