Grand New Entrance for Lindsey Wilson Sports Park

2013-05-09 - Lindsey Wilson Sports Park, 828 Russell Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The Final Touches are going on the new arched entrance to the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park. A big Raider Bob will be attached to the center plate of the arch, which is 19 feet tall at the center, 15 feet tall at the posts. The arch is 39 feet wide. It will have very soft light strips around the edges of the framework. Globe lamps were installed today on the entrance posts. To the left of the arch there will be a large sign welcoming sports fans to the park, which includes Blue Raider Stadium, Egnew Park for baseball, and Lindsey Wilson Park for softball. Construction of the project was completed by Mike Newton and the Lindsey Wilson Plant Operation Department at a cost of approximately one-third what it would have been had the project been opened for bidding. The arch was built by AJ - Anthony Janes and his Fabco company. Mark Jones and Gerald Lucas of Lindsey Wilson were the masons. Certified electricians Jimmy Bottoms and Danny Brockman of Plant Operations installed the lighting.
