Epicurean Kentuckian: Strawberry Time is here

2013-05-06 - Adair Co., KY - Photo Various Photographer. Betty's OK Country Cooking is having Strawberry Cobbler today, Monday, May 6, 2013 - perhaps other restaurants will have strawberries on their menus, too. In the upper left, Barbara Armitage sent a photo of the first starwberries of the season from Tucker's Station Farms, which were offered at the Farmer's Market on the Square, Saturday, May 4, 2013 but were sold out before the official market opening. (She'll be having more as the season moves along. In the lower left, photo by Sharon Whitehurst, were some of the first pickings in Gradyvillle, KY, last year, from their farm, Willis the Cat, CEO (cat executive officer). Upper right is Nadine Baker's Bridge Cake, which established a new tradition for dedications of bridges in her husband's Third Magisterial District. In the middle right, Pen posted a great way to enjoy fresh strawberries, carefully washed and trimmed, eaten as part of a healthy lifestyle. And lower right, shed a tear for old time sake, one of those fabulous three layer strawberry cakes they served at the unforgettable Cafe on the Square.
