The ACGC: With free Garlic Chives, the stall was a big hit

2013-04-20 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Linda Waggener, Columbia, KY visited the Adair County Garden Club's booth and left with some Garlic Chives plants and a head full more gardening knowledge. Lois Cunningham, is helping her with brochures and plants. That's Kathy Hunt on the left. There will be a few of the Garlic Chives at the next Farmer's Market on the Square (FM2), Barbara Armitage said. The club had a lot of them. Almost everything taken to the market sold. The crowd, over the course of about 5.5 hours, was estimated at over 500 people, which is expected to grow as more produce matures. FM2 had been scheduled for 4 hours, but Barbara Armitage said that failed to take into account the custom of Adair Countians to be "Fashionably Early." She said, "No matter what time a sale is to announced to start," she said, "There will always be eager buyers show up well ahead of time. Some were here when we began set up, at six."
