Shop with a Shriner held at Columbia Super Walmart Tuesday

2012-12-11 - Supermart, Holladay Place, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. There were lots of kids having a big time for the 15th year of a tradition which started as Shop with a Cop was changed in 2000 to Shop with a Shriner. On the first two rows, not in order, are Chrissy, James, Breanna, Tanner, Zach, Derrick, Ryan, Steven, Mitchell, Cory, Alexander, Amber, Keareah, McKenzie, Kaitlyn, Macy, and back row, in no particular order, Richard, Joe, President Jimmy, Cody, Leonard, Kevin, Dale, Derrick, and the author of the book on local, Robert. Adults along from the Family Resource Center were Alyssa Barnes, Paula Garrison, and Betty Knifley. Other volunteers who played big roles include: Angie Smith and Debbie Cowan with Family Resource Center, Adair County Elementary School and John Adair Intermediate School Teachers Jamie Shelley, Mary Keen, Missy Garmon, Jane Reed, Cheryl Corbin, and Jason Curry, and these Lindsey Wilson College Bonner Scholars: Caitlin Underwood, Kanisha Frye, Lauren Thompson, Bailey Scott, Amber Clark, and Hillary Bumpus.
The program, organized by the Mark Twain Shriners Club of Columbia, provided a $150 shopping spree for each kid. Prior to the event, there were crafts and a pizza back on the Adair County School District Campus. All the kids are deserving 5th graders from John Adair Intermediate School and Adair County Elementary School. - CM.
