Teddy R. Ray: Metcalfe Co., KY Vietnam Veteran

2012-11-15 - Edmonton, KY - Photo from Carla Smith. At CM's request, Carla Smith, Teddy R. Ray's daughter, Carla Smith, sent the following to go with a favorite Teddy Ray reply to Geniece Marcum about his heroism:
Teddy R. Ray, Edmonton KY, was a Third-Class Electrician's Mate in the US Navy during 2 Tours of Duty in Vietnam. He was part of the crew of an SH3-A Helicopter that flew on rescue missions for downed flight personnel. The following are his service awards from 1967: Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals. National Defence Medal, US Vietnam Service Medal. Vietnam Service Medal. And, she wrote, "Thank you for recognizing his sacrifice for our country," but the thanks should all go to the Ray family, Teddy R. Ray's service and the pride the area can take in his heroism. - GM.
