2012-11-11 - CUMC, 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ron Heath. On Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2012, Columbia United Methodist Church honored a hometown hero during the Sunday morning worship service. Sgt. Ben Watts, who was severely wounded in Afghanistan, was presented with a hand-crocheted stars and stripes lap blanket. It took church member Ginny Heath more than 90 hours to complete the lap blanket. Pictured presenting the lap blanket are Neil Janes, pastor of CUMC far left, to Ben, his wife Bridgette, and two daughters, Bailey and Harley.
