The Winners: Judge-elect Vance Command Post

2012-11-07 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. This morning she's Judge-Elect Judy Vance. Last night, 29th Judicial District Circuit Judge candidate Judy Vance set up a command post in the lobby of the Adair County Courthouse, with notepaper, a soft drink, and a cell phone to keep track of of the early returns from Casey County - which were encouraging, even though the race turned out to be a battle of home counties. Her opponent, Brian Wright, carried his home county comfortably, but in Adair County, Vance won by much more. With the victory, she will take office January 1, 2013, unless Governor Beshear appoints her to the vacant bench - open since the death of Judge James Weddle - sooner. An effort is underway to encourage the governor to do just that. (Related photo: Judge-elect Judy Vance, on the way to another interview)
