Automatic singing at New Zion Baptist Church

2012-10-20 - New Zion Baptist Church, 3181 Fairplay Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. When a study group from Greater Campbellsville United came to the last stop at Adair County's New Zion Baptist Church, Faye Duvall, center, red sweater, above greeted the group and agreed to be in a photo with them. Before proper pictures could be taken, Rev. James I. Buford, back left broke out in a spontaneous song, and was automatically joined by all the others. Even Wanda Washington, right, yellow blouse was coaxed out of her timidity to lead the singing, sharing co-direction by Rev. Buford's wife, Pamela, left, blue jacket. Other singers, in no particular order, were Annervia Caldwell, Margie Thompson, Melissa Taylor, Shetira Arnold, Cynthia Johnson, Margo Carey, Carol Robinson, Jimmy Robinson, James T. Washington, Jean Wickliffe, Samuel Wickliffe, and Ed Waggener. Bus driver Josh Mahan, originally from the Mountains of Georgia and was reminded of home by Adair County, stood away from the photo. The group was on counterclockwise trip which starting in Campbellsville and taking much of the day in Green County. Next time, they say, they'll start the trip in Columbia and spend most of the day in Adair County, and return, clockwise, through Greensburg to Campbellsville. Permalink | Comments?
