Adair County School maintenance going greener



2012-10-15 - Adair County School District Campus, off Indian Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Ricky Bault, Director of Maintenance for the Adair County School District now has an all electric, plug in 2010 Golf Car to use instead of "Old Yeller," the districts ancient maintenance pickup to go from building to building. The cart, purchased from Downey ATV in Columbia, will have get "Eco Friendly" decal and "Adair County Schools-Learning for a Lifetime" logo. Later, Heather Spoon's Enviornmental Technology Career Academy will construct solar panels to recharge the vehicle's battery pack, which will provide much, if not all the vehicle's energy needs. In the background, beautiful weather is helping speed construction of the new elementary school which will replace the No. 8 worst school facility in the state, Colonel Wm. Casey. Reconfiguration by the Board of Education is consolidating the classrooms into four schools. John Adair Intermediate School, rated the worst school building in the state, will be eliminated.
