Big change in the pharmacy retailing in Columbia, KY

2012-10-14 - Jamestown Street at Russell Road - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The biggest series of changes in the history of pharmaceutical retailing has taken place this weekend with the opening of the largest ever pharmacy, CVS; a name change for a long time family pharmacy, Sheila And Larry Bryant's Nationwide is rebadged Century Medicines express pharmacy; and two pharmacies are closed with their records moved to CVS: Michael Stephens' Prescription Shoppe and the Bowman and Huff Columbia Pharmacy. Columbia's other pharmacies are the Super Walmart in Holladay Place, Certa Care Pharmacy in Dr. Eric Loy's Adair Family Medical Center on Campbellsville Road, and James Medical Pharmacy beside Genesis Health Care on Campbellsville Road. There is also a pharmacy in Westlake Regional Hospital Hospital, but it serves only hospital patients.
