Expert Shoe Repair Service

2012-09-29 - 1849 Wheeler Hill Road, In The Flatwoods, Adair County, KY - Photo by Innocent Bystander. When a customer's expensive $12.95 Chinese manufactured shoe came unglued, Donovan Baker offered expert repair service. Using only the exact - no more, no less - amount of painters' blue tape and the level - to make sure the shoe was right - he bound the shoe and sole back together, good as new, almost as good as Shot Royse, Billy Bradshaw, or Mr. Lawless could ever do with a lot of fancy equipment. Mr. Baker charged 1950's prices - a dollar a shoe and offered to do the good shoe, too, for another dollar. The satisfied customer, to cheap to pay for aesthetics, declined. Just be forewarned not to debate him - Donovan has the disputational skills to make grownups cower. Just ask any adult who has tried to match wits with him. - CM
