2012-08-10 - 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Congressman Ed Whitfield spoke to a packed Adair Annex meeting room about his efforts to save Westlake Regional Hospital. Whitfield, who helped secured a $21 million loan to help Russell County build a new hospital, said that he would be seeking aid for crisis Adair County faces with Westlake. Some 85 people occupied every chair or were standing around the walls of the large meeting room, and others, estimated at 15-30, where in the halls. Originally, Rep. Whitfield was to meet only with magistrates, board members and community leaders - most of whom were contacted by phone - but later Thursday morning, the too brief meeting was opened to the public, announced for 1pmCT.
