2012-05-20 - The Holler, Old Clearsprings Road, Ozark, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. I have to laugh, when I hear on food gurus talking on the radio about urban gardens and foraging for food. It's a way of life for frontier life in The Holler. So what if the food pipelines stopped and the stores would be out of food in three days? Here in The Holler, in the land of natural plenty, there's plenty to eat. And sooner rather than later. Betcha these blackberries are coming along much better than they are Topside. Yeah, they are healthy with all their anti-oxidants, but the real reason to eat them is they just plain taste good. - Shamarie Claiborne.
