Scenic Adair Co., KY: Is this storied Putman Co.?

2012-02-13 - Grassy Springs Road at Allen Schoolhouse Road, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Is this part of storied Putman County Adair County's "county-within-a-county," or not. Couldn't tell whose place it is, it's across from The Baker's beautiful Ridgeview Farm, but I was intrigued by the sentinel chimney left standing like a monument, the cattle grazing, and the bird soaring overhead. It does somewhat fit what I learned at the feet of Dr. W.K. Neat, who told me, "You'll know Putman County when you see it. It just greens out before your eyes." This place is within the general area he described, but I'm as good on geography as a person who is truly educated, a truck driver with a CDL (wish I had one), who ranks a PhD in the subject, any day - so I couldn't be sure. Any enlightenment will be appreciated. In my defense, the government has failed us by not putting proper signage up, so Putman County, remains a state of mind.-EW.
