Sidewalk reconstruction, Monday evening, Nov. 7, 2011

The Well Walk off the Public Square reconstruction site has been minimized during the day. The contractors have reduced the space on the Square to the width of one storefront. At right is a photo of the compacted fill, now fenced off with a barricade squareside, and safety netting over the far end, over the alley. At the Columbia City Council meeting, Publisher Sharon Burton of the Farmland Publications, publisher of the Adair County Community Voice, one of three businesses on the walk, that the momentary disruption is well worth it. Workers in Farmland Publications, Dr. Janelle Brown, and Best Buys Clothes can be accessed only through their Reed Street lower level entrances until the Sidewalk is completed
