Pear Tree blossoming in October up in Greater Gadberry, KY

2011-10-19 - Johnson School RD, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Charles Marshburn.
Charles Marshburn sends this proof of confused Pear tree which thinks this October is Spring Time. He took the photo yesterday, Monday, October 17, 2011. His is one of many late early blooming phenomena reported yesterday: Lilac haven't last bloom in Cane Valley when they had oughta; a cherry tree and crabapple may be thinking its May in Gradyville, KY. The latter three have fairly easy science reasons: Cane Valley is a lilac sort of town, and the beautiful shrubs are striving to reciprocate; Gradyville is a spring/summer zippity-do-dah Mr. Bluebirds on my shoulder Southern culture place. But Greater Gadberry is near the Alpine, Arctic reaches, where the earliest snows cover the grounds and the school bus stoppers hit, so the Pear tree blooming in October may the strangest of all strange happenings we're seeing in this strange, almost weird weather. -ED WAGGENER
