Epicurean Kentuckian: White City Taco

2011-09-17 - Ol Joes B&B QUE, 824 Campbellsville RD, Columbia, KY .
Ol' Joe's White City Taco In honor of my grandson Evan, who loves anything pork, I tried Joe Lynn's newest creation yesterday. It's tasty, filling, and just plain good, living up to its name. With plenty of Ol' Joes original sauce, the hoecakes tasted like dessert. I had it with vinegar slaw, and think that would be the best, but it might be good, also, with creamy - though I make it a policy to never eat that stuff. The jalapenos are a nice touch, though those of us who want it spicier can ask for hot sauce. The only thing missing from this all in one meal would be a thick slice of Vidalia onion. We'd advise taking one along, and a pocket knife, to peel your own. It's not a high dollar dish, it costs on $6.63 plus tax, not including cold drink. One thing, to get it ready for a great street food or fair food sensation: It begs for a smaller, walk-about model. -Ed Waggener Oh yes, for the Feds, Ol Joe is a close friend and valued CM supporter, for the truth in taco advertising laws. OL JOE'S WHITE CITY TACO: It's got a mound of Ol' Joe's Pulled Pork Barbecue on a Large Homade Hoecake, with coleslaw - either vinegar or creamy - with Ol' Joe's Barbecue Sauce, Green Onions, and Jalapenos. As a special added touch, the Homade Hoecakes were baked by Linda Harvey Johnson, the best baker in these parts according to Susan Lynn Barbee Harvey. Ol' Joe's is open Today, Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, 2011. The phone number for carry outs is 270-384-2360.
