Majestic (missing) ACHS Totem Pole discovered

2011-08-21 - McKinley Lane, Columbia, Ky - Photo by Ed Waggener.
A close up of the (previously missing/now discovered) ACHS Indian Totem Pole shows the top mask and the lower thunderbird details. Fay McKinley reported its whereabouts, in the hands of son-in-law Rick Bault, in a location family members (including me, Uncle Ed) have passed by hundreds of times - and weren't aware of the historical treasure nearby. At nine feet tall, it is just 164 feet shy of the world's record largest totem pole at Alert Bay, British Columbia, Canada (according to the Wikipedia entry on Totem poles). Just in case anyone is inspired by the vision of former CJE James Brock for an Adair County entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, or even one for the late, Great Columbia Mayor Coy Downey's World Record Book of Guinnesses. The photo has been brightened and the details enhanced to show the art work by Mrs. Lambirth's four person art class team who created it in 1969: James Brockman, Elroy Willis, Norris Tucker, and Ralph Willis. -Uncle Ed Waggener
