This peaceful farm scene near McKinney, KY was the site of a horrific cold war plane crash. Alan Reed, then a student in Liberty, KY but already a radio announcer, was one of the first to visit the crash scene on Monday evening, December 12, 1966 interrupting an episode of "The Big Valley" on Tv. The event took place at the height of the cold war, and Chris Bennett and Alan Reed discovered during their research that many in the area around the little Lincoln County town and neighbors from Casey Co. showed up at the crash scene with guns, ready to fight the Commies.
