Russell Co. Bookmobile ca 1950s

2011-07-27 - Russell Co., KY - Photo From the Collection of Larry Smith.
Larry Smith shares this old photo from his huge collection: This one is a bookmobile scene in Russell County in what he believes to have been the 1950s. He doesn't know any of the people in the picture and hasn't found out where it was taken. He has learned that the bookmobile librarian was one of the most respected people, ever, in Russell County, Elizabeth Phelps a member of one of Russell Counties most distinguished families. The bookmobile van body appears to be on an International chassis. From the looks of the well dressed patrons and the stair stepped ages, one would think this would be one of the more educated areas for its day. (It's a problem for "Jim," we guess).
