The concern for protecting the Wastewater Plant

2011-07-16 - Photo Courtesy CAUD.
The Columbia/Adair County Utilities District (CAUD) board was shown this drawing showing the erosion on the south bank of Russell Creek beside the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The laddered diagram shows the change in the channel. "WWTP" and the arrow points to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, threatened by the undermining of the bank. The City of Columbia is applying for Kentucky Community Development Project Block Grant to pay for the project. CAUD General Manager Lenny Stone said that concerns of owners of residences along the Russell Creek and tributaries flood plains will be taken into consideration prior to any construction. More than one, he said at the CAUD Board meeting Thursday night, have expresssed concerns that any constriction of the creek here might elevate flood levels upstream.
